If you have been considering a Whispering Pines Event Center wedding, here’s everything you need to know!

23590 Grange Rd, Geneseo, Illinois 61254
Geneseo is a tiny town located in Henry County, Illinois. From the second you reach the city limits, you will feel as though you’ve been sent through the pages of history back to a simpler time. The downtown is rich with Victorian brick houses and historic chapels with steeples that reach up above the trees. As you drive through the town, it will set the scene for a day where you can escape from the chaos of your regular life.
Whispering Pines event center is a camping site nestled at the edge of the town amidst family-owned farms. This faith-based retreat center offers cozy cabins, RV hookups, and tent sites, making it the perfect spot for adventurous couples. Whether you want a wedding weekend filled with glamping or prefer a natural space you can transform into your dream venue, this center has just the option for you!

Details of the Grounds
When you host your wedding at Whispering Pines, you will be able to add on upgrades that will give you everything you could possibly need for a seamless day. Before your ceremony, you will have several options for getting ready. If you would prefer to stay on-site throughout your entire celebration, I highly recommend renting out a few cabins. That way, you can arrive on-site early with your wedding party and get ready just steps away from your ceremony space. Bonus: you’ll have a cozy, stress-free spot to crash with your spouse once your wedding is over!
Another option is to rent out a room around downtown Geneseo. The town has a Best Western as well as several rental houses through VRBO and AirBnB. I love this option because you will be able to pick out a stylish spot for candid pictures with your wedding party before your celebration begins.
Once it’s time to exchange your vows, you will be able to choose from both indoor and outdoor spaces. If you do prefer to take full advantage of the scenery, the venue offers a flat, open field surrounded by towering pines. You can set up your altar in front of the tree line and have a woodsy ceremony as your guests comfortably watch from the grass. This area is a complete blank slate, just waiting for your flowers to add the perfect amount of color!

If you would prefer an indoor space for your ceremony, the venue has an on-site chapel. You will have access to the entire building for two hours with the ability to add on time as needed. There will be a sound and mic included in your rental, and you can add on the lower-level kitchen if you would like. The space itself is positively charming with wooden pews leading up to a small stage. The walls and the ceiling have been painted white so you can decorate the room as needed. For your wedding, you can book a package that will include extra equipment for your day.
This is a dry venue with no alcohol allowed on the campus. While you might not be able to do a traditional cocktail hour, there are firepits where your guests can cook up s’mores or enjoy some hot apple cider as you take your pictures around the camping grounds.
Finally, it will be time for your reception. While you can host this inside the chapel, the venue has its own event space perfect for hours of partying. This area is able to hold up to 96 people and can be rented out for 6 hours at a time. Just like with the rest of the venue, this will be a space you can transform according to your vision. The white walls, white ceilings, and neutral carpet are ready to accommodate all colors and styles so you can have the wedding of your dreams!

Photography Opportunities
There is so much to love about Whispering Pines, but I think the best thing about this venue is the unlimited photo backdrops. Throughout your wedding day, you can wander along the property and take portraits in the green fields surrounded by the trees. The meadow is ideal for everything, including your first look pictures and your group portraits.
If you do want to shake things up a little, I highly recommend taking a break and heading to downtown Geneseo. The architecture in the city is positively dreamy, giving you unique backdrops ideal for your couples’ portraits!
Whispering Pines is going to give you total freedom throughout your wedding day. They have a local caterer you will be able to work with, or you can use their on-site kitchens to prepare meals. The event center has tables and chairs, plus they offer linens available to rent. You will have access to a projector and a big screen at no additional cost. The Event Center offers an on-site piano, and they have free wifi, perfect for your playlist!
